The Ambient Sniper is a powerful zoid, but is often overshadowed by its smaller--and much cheaper-- cousin the Gunsniper. The smaller raptor can be modified with more firepower than what the Ambient can boast of, and while it's not as mobile as the Ambient it can plug away with its massive guns until sunset, while the Ambient is limited to only twelve seconds of fire.

The Red Horn, once deemed nearly invincible, is overshadowed by the Dark Horn. The stock Dark Horn can equal or beat the Red Horn in literally every area, and even gets almost all of the mods of the Red Horn.

These two zoids see much less use than their alternatives, and as such are often regulated to the sidelines. But why should this be? Why can't these zoids recieve the power they need to take back the battlefield? The answer: they can.

The Heavy Attack Unit (not to be confused with the Heavy Assault Unit!) was designed with the same general role in mind as several other modifications that share a similar name-- the Assault Unit, the Attack Unit, and the Heavy Assault Unit. That role is simple: it boosts the firepower of the two zoids it mounts to, adding an array of new weapons.

The first set of weapons are a pair of AZ60mm Beam Cannons. They are simple, straightforward, and to the point. Semiautomatic and packing a decent punch, they're the big guns of the Heavy Attack Unit.

The next weapon is a 35mm Gatling Cannon, spitting out twenty rounds per second. It's not exactly a huge weapon, but it's got a decent enough rate of fire and caliber to make it dangerous.

Finally, the oddball weapons of the Unit, the Twin 5mm AMD Pulse Laser Cannons. The smallest weapons ever mounted to a zoid, these things are nearly useless against other zoids at anything other than point-blank range. What they are great for is knocking missiles out of the air. With a high firing rate of 40 beams per second and a spread wider than that of the Hybrid Vulcan, missiles have a hard time surviving the deluge of deadly light these weapons put out. Anything with armor can fairly safely ignore these weapons, though.

The Heavy Attack Unit's mounting locations vary widely between the two zoids. On the Ambient Sniper, the Twin AZ60mm Beam Cannons are mounted between the Mortar Pods and are fixed forward, the 35mm Gatling Cannon mounts to the top of the head and is also fixed forward, and the 5mm AMD Pulse Laser Cannons mount to the hips. The 5mm AMD Pulse Laser Cannons normally point directly out to the sides, but can pivot 90 degrees in any direction, giving them literally unparalleled fields of fire. Anything small directly in front of or behind the zoids might be able to escape fire, but little else can.

On the Red Horn, the weapons take advantage of the iconic weapons mount. The designers did not want to occupy too much room on the mount, and thus interfere with the mounting of the Horn's other back-mounted modifications, so they settled for ripping out the Horn's AZ60mm Tri-Barreled Artillery Cannon for all of the guns but a single 5mm AMD Pulse Laser Cannon. Those guns all pivot with the rest of the mount, plain and simple. The remaining 5mm AMD Pulse Laser Cannon is mounted to the top of the base of the tail, facing backwards. It can pivot 90 degrees up, left, or right, giving it a wide field of fire. Just be careful not to shoot down your own missiles.

The Heavy Attack Unit isn't too expensive for what it does, at a mere $15,000. So buy yours today!
