Description: Blades and lances are great at what they do, don't get me wrong. Slicing and stabbing are what they are made for - and they rarely fail to get the job done when used properly. However, they're one of those weapons that can only do one thing and nothing else. However, several pilots would rather crush their enemies instead of cutting them. Why? Because crushing does more surface damage, and a cut rarely changes the outcome of a match. Not only that, but blades and lances can be tricky to disengage if you need to get out of melee range and fast.

The solution was quite simple actually. A fairly simple human weapon was altered to fit onto zoids. The weapon was of course, the mace. Now, in order for the mace to be truly effective, it needed a large range of movement. To fulfill that requirement, the Maces are placed on a ball-and-socket mount. Think of the human arm swinging around. Thus, the rotation is nearly omni-directional.

Several benefits came of this: It was fairly simple to execute combo attacks. In other words, it's fairly easy to maneuver the maces to attack repeatedly, unlike blades and lances. This is essential for the mace's purpose: to do a large amount of surface damage. Research showed that blades barely last one blade attack, the damage cause can oftentimes be outright ignored. Lances are also a one time charge. Once you're buried in there, good luck getting out.

To add a bit of umph, the maces are covered with spikes, which increase the amount of damage done, if not make it a smidgen harder to maneuver around. The ball that the spikes are on is welded to a long pole about 7 meters long. This means that even though you are in front of the enemy, you can still attack the sides. Unfortunately, it makes it much harder to attack the chest, unless you charge ram the maces into the enemy.

The actual umph of the maces are of course the large ball at the end. The radius of the sphere is 1/2 a meter - the diameter of it is one meter. Add on each spike, which is a 1/4 of a meter, it's 1.25 meters of giant spike ball.

Statistically, one could manage off a swing a second. That means a total of 2 swings a second, provided that both maces are functioning. However, it's not too difficult to destroy the mount with a sniper or with simple brute force.

The drawbacks? Little internal damage, unless the internals are already showing. Sure the spikes do a bit, but nothing that could cause serious damage to the insides. Also, the lances that the Hound Soldier used to be able to use to keep the enemy stuck are gone, meaning the enemy has more movement when compared to having a giant sword or lance stuck inside of them. Also, blades and lances are aerodynamic. That means they can cut through air so that air resistance doesn't slow the zoid down. While quadrupedal zoids can mostly ignore this, bipedal zoids (the Rev Raptor) take a 30 kmph deduction.

The scientists that developed this weapon also noticed that it could be (with slight difficulty) mounted to the Rev Raptor and Saber Lion. However, the Ion Charger does not increase damage done, because the maces don't rely on cutting energy and the mounts have to be rewired to fit the maces.
