In Brief: A release and ejection system for melee dependant zoids that allows for quick escapes and versatility in attack routines.
Description:
If there was ever a problem with a Blade Liger or Hound Soldier, it's the danger of getting a primary weapon lodged, inescapably, in your opponent's zoid while they then blow you to kingdom come. So, with that problem in mind, a small backwoods engineering firm and a particularly innovative engineer chipped in their two cents, took a crack at a solution, and came out with the Blade Lock after only a month or so of development.
There's really not much beyond the obvious; each melee weapon on a zoid that's equipped this part has the mounting point modified slightly to include a pilot controlled release mechanism. One flick of a switch and the blade or lance or horn in question comes free of the host zoid, leaving it lodged in whatever it had become trapped in. Alternately a pilot can use the system to discard a damaged weapon if they so desire.
Once ejected, these melee weapons can't be reattached by anything short of a full service armory, meaning that once a weapon is gone, it's gone for the whole battle -- but generally that's already the case if someone's activating the Blade Lock. The only thing of note is that, despite the low price tag, Blade Lock is permanent on all zoids that mount it.
