During the era of warfare on Zi, technology barriers were commonly regarded as temporary problems at best. Throw enough money at a problem and somewhere, somebody will find a solution. Both the Republic and the Empire were great proponents of this idea, which resulted in innovations like the super-agile Konig Wolf and the extremely disruptive Charged Particle Gun.

Of course, sometimes money is irrelevent. Sometimes, it's sheer dumb luck that manages to shatter all expectations. Such is the case with the Blox units: a tiny company, then known for nothing and now still known for nothing, managed to devise the necessary pieces of technology to create the complex Zoids. This technology was promptly sold to both parties of the war, and the company dissolved with everybody involved very, very rich.

While the Imperial technicians used this new technology to build the hellish fiend that is the Chimera Dragon, Republican designers focused on the deadly, elegant Matrix Dragon. The Matrix Dragon was a quintessential piece of Blox technology in that the Zoid wasn't an independant unit, but rather a fusion of four seperate Zoids: Leoblaze, Unenlagia, Nightwise, and Mosasledge.

The Unenlagia is built with a very specific role in mind: support the Leoblaze. While the Leos got down and dirty, the Unenlagia could stand off and deliver their rather impressive firepower where it was needed most. The trick, however, was to do this without sacrificing mobility.

Thus, the Unenlagia was built on a unique variation of the successful Gunsniper platform. The Zoid is a small raptor, optimized for maneuverability and flexibility. So much so, in fact, that the Zoid can quite literally dance around a Rev Raptor. Its armor is equal to the Gun Sniper's...and unlike the Gunsniper, the Unenlagia never sits still. Its main weapon, which is built into the tail, is perfectly capable of firing on the move. This makes fighting a Unenlagia equal parts annoying and dangerous. On top of that is its ability to fuse into no fewer than four combinations (all of which involve the Leoblaze, coincidentially) and the ability to bond to a huge number of Zoids, which creates a Zoid that can threaten just about everything if it has the right partner.

Weapons:

AZ80mm Laser Assault Rifle:
At first glance it's easy to mistake the Unenlagia for just another Gunsniper derivative, largely due to this tail-mounted weapon. Which is true in part, but underestimating it as such is a dangerous thing to do. While the Gunsniper's massive AZ144mm Sniper Rifle is big, it's also limited in utility due to the need to lock down. The Unenlagia replaces this with a smaller (though still fairly impressive) laser cannon, which creates several trade-offs. Most notably, the Unenlagia can fire on the move, though its accuracy is... poor at best when it does so. While sitting still, the weapon lives up to its status as a rifle, and is capable of at least decent accuracy out to a kilometer. Combine that with a semi-automatic firing rate, and you have a hell of a weapon in the right hands.

Dual 30mm Cannons:
After looking at the Laser Assault Rifle, it's easy to underestimate these as weak weapons. Doing so can be costly, though. For one, they're capable of firing 12 rounds per second each. For two, they have a wide field of fire, which comes from their mount: the weapons are mounted to the sides Unenlagia's arms, and can fire wherever they point.

Hardened Alloy Claws and Teeth:
The Unenlagia has the usual melee weapons: a set of sharpened claws and razor-like teeth. The Zoid is small and physically rather weak, but the claws are still useful for ripping and tearing, and the teeth are plenty sharp enough for biting.

Special Abilities:

360 Degree Cockpit View:
While the Unenlagia lacks a true sniping mode like the Gun Sniper and Snipe Master, it does possess a cockpit that, through a combination of regular visibility and cameras, allows a pilot to see a full 360 degrees around their Zoid, facilitating aiming the Assault Rifle in the tail. Note, however, that you have to be looking where you're shooting -- you can't see to aim ahead and behind your Zoid simultaneously.

Fusion:
Like the majority of the Blox units, the Unenlagia has the ability to fuse with other Zoids. Unlike the majority of Blox, the Unenlagia has no fewer than four fusions. Most famously, it can combine with the Leoblaze, Mosasledge, and Nightwise to create the mighty Matrix Dragon. It can also combine with the Leoblaze to create the Double Arms Lizard, while adding the Buster Eagle to that combination creates the Griffin. Finally, and completely unintentionally, the Unenlagia can also combine with Leoblaze, Diploguns, Shellkarn, Demonshead, and Nightwise to form the devastating Gojulox.

Bonding:
The other appeal of the Blox units is their ability to Bond to other Zoids. The Unenlagia can reconfigure itself so that its Laser Assault Rifle is on a turret, mounted on the back of any non-Blox Zoid that happens to be at least level 3. The turret can rotate 45 degrees, both horizontally and vertically. In almost all cases, the turret will replace any weapons that are mounted on the back of the parent Zoid, as well as blocking any mods that might mount there. On tyrannosaur-style Zoids like the Deadborder and Gojulas, as well as the apes of the Kong family, this weapon will mount to the lower torso instead, below existing weaponry.
