During the era of warfare on Zi, technology barriers were commonly regarded as temporary problems at best. Throw enough money at a problem and somewhere, somebody will find a solution. Both the Republic and the Empire were great proponents of this idea, which resulted in innovations like the super-agile Konig Wolf and the extremely disruptive Charged Particle Gun.

Of course, sometimes money is irrelevent. Sometimes, it's sheer dumb luck that manages to shatter all expectations. Such is the case with the Blox units: a tiny company, then known for nothing and now still known for nothing, managed to devise the necessary pieces of technology to create the complex Zoids. This technology was promptly sold to both parties of the war, and the company dissolved with everybody involved very, very rich.

While the Imperial technicians used this new technology to build the hellish fiend that is the Chimera Dragon, Republican designers focused on the deadly, elegant Matrix Dragon. The Matrix Dragon was a quintessential piece of Blox technology in that the Zoid wasn't an independant unit, but rather a fusion of four seperate Zoids: Leoblaze, Unenlagia, Nightwise, and Mosasledge.

The Mosasledge is meant as a naval assault Zoid, supplementing the heavier Hammerhead. As such, it is equipped with a reasonable torpedo battery, a pair of machineguns, and more than enough melee weapons to deal with anything trying to get up close and personal with the Hammerheads it fights with.

The Mosasledge is fast, extremely so. It has the Hammerhead and Warshark both outclassed by a good thirty knots, and everything else by an even larger margin. It's also quite agile, just barely missing the Warshark's mark. Unfortunately that comes at the expense of its armor, which is marginally thicker than paper (and on par with the Sinker's). Still, if you can avoid getting hit too much, it's hard to argue with the Mosasledge. Fast, agile, well-armed, and with a chainsaw for a tail. What's not to love?

Weapons:

Twin 35mm Machineguns:
These two Machineguns are mounted on either side of the Mosasledge's head. Perfectly capable of underwater fire, these make up the bulk of the Mosasledge's firepower with a combined firing rate of 20 rounds/second. On top of that, their mount means that while they're fixed in position, they point wherever the head does.

Dual Torpedo Launchers:
This pair of torpedo launchers is mounted on each side of the back of the Mosasledge. Each tube carries two torpedoes (for a total of four) and is capable of firing on any target more or less in front of the Mosasledge. When fired underwater, each torpedo will use active sonar to lock onto the nearest enemy signature that doesn't correspond to their IFF (which does not require a lock--they do it on their own.). They then active a set of turbines in their tails, and track whatever target they're locked onto until the ends of the earth. However, torpedoes are nowhere near as fast as missiles, and, while armored, can be easily dispatched. In an environment where a single hull breach could mean death, the torpedoes are a valuable asset. In the air they're marginally less valuable, mostly because they're little more than slow, inaccurate, oversized rockets. After 300 meters the torpedoes lose all significant inertia and simply fall to the ground without detonating.

Tail Saw:
Because nothing is cooler than a Zoid with a chainsaw for a tail, the Mosasledge has the Tail Saw. Exactly what it sounds like, this weapon can shred through armor like... well, like a chainsaw. Or a chainsaw that happens to be seven meters long. Ripped pretty much wholesale from the Spinosapper, the saw is even capable of charging with energy, drastically increasing its cutting power. To facilitate its use, the Tail Saw can be rotated about 45 degrees in any direction. 'Course, using it at speed in the air still gets dangerous.

Hardened Alloy Fin Blades and Teeth:
The four fins of the Mosasledge are hardened and capable of cutting through Zoid armor just like an uncharged blade. Using them in the air is difficult at best, but underwater they can be quite effective. Sadly they're rather small, only protruding about 2 or 3 meters from the sides of the Mosasledge. The teeth, on the other hand, are quite powerful and the jaw of the Mosasledge is considerably muscular, allowing it to latch on to opponents and tear them apart.

Special Abilities:

Flying:
The Mosasledge is fully capable of flight though it is worth noting that it is not what it is made for. The Mosasledge is only capable of reaching Mach .5 and has a ceiling of 50 meters. It does, however, have full VTOL capabilities, and is capable of flying at extremely low altitudes with remarkable stability. But not necessarily maneuverability -- while the Mosasledge is fairly agile at low speeds, anything above a quarter of a mach has you approaching Hammerhead-style flying brick maneuvering.

Swimming:
The Mosasledge was designed for undersea combat and can dive about 500 meters down without sustaining damage. Though it is separated into compartments, and the zoid can seal off breaches from the rest of the zoid, it is not nearly as resistant to breaches as the Hammerhead, and with too many breaches will sink fairly quickly.

Fusion:
Like the majority of the Blox units, the Mosasledge has the ability to fuse with other Zoids. It can combine with the Leoblaze, Unenlagia, and Nightwise to create the mighty Matrix Dragon.

Bonding:
The Mosasledge is capable of granting its torpedo tubes (which dumbfire much like they do from the air) and tail saw to any Zoid of level 3 or higher. On quadrupeds one launcher each mounts on the sides of each of the back hips, while on bipeds they mount on the side of the hips. On any other zoid they simply mount on the sides of the main body. The tail saw mounts to the backs of most Zoids, but bipedal Zoids (including the Kong family) instead mount it sideways, to the outside of either forearm. It maintains its 45-degree rotation along that point. These replace any mods or weapons that may already occupy their mounting location.
