A cargo carrier doesn't always carry Zoids, shocking as it may sound. As a matter of fact, this Zoid, the Connectes, is one of the most common Zoids on Zi -- essentially the equivalent of a Terran transport truck. Now, just as a standard four-wheeled truck can't carry a battle tank, a Connectes can't carry another Zoid. As a matter of fact, weighing in at 7 tons unloaded, a Connectes is one of the lightest Zoids around, though its insectoid makeup allows it to carry several times its own weight (if not its own volume, if necessary). You see, the Connectes is a millipede type Zoid, extremely short (the 1.7 meter height is actually quite cramped for tall pilots), mid-speed, cheap, and with a low center of mass. It is assembled in "segments" of a body with their own legs, just like a regular millipede. The front section contains the cockpit, the back section holds the Zoid core.

Unlike normal Zoids, the Connectes can actually be separated -- cracked open at the middle -- and additional segments can be inserted between its front and back segment. These segments carry cargo. Usually, the Connectes only has one cargo carrying unit, though this feature allows it carry many if necessary. The ability to expand as necessary makes the Connectes an invaluable workhorse for all factions involved, ferrying supplies and material to and from the front lines. On the other hand, it's not much in a fight. Connectes are unarmed. Civilian version Connectes are also often unarmored, but the military variety come with light Rev Raptor level armor, perhaps slightly thickened around the sensitive front and back ends of the Zoid.

As a final note, the Connectes is often incorrectly referred to as the Baratz. It is actually of the Baratz genus, a grouping which includes five other Zoids: the Gunbeetle, Girafsworder, StealthCutter, Guysting, and Feelesword. The Connectes is the only one still in use. Even if it has no weapons and no place on in a sanctioned Zoid Battle, one should never underestimate the usefulness of a humble transport Zoid.

Special Abilities:
Cargo Carrying
The Connectes can have up to five, small midsection transport segments (the number is dependent on the volume, not the weight of the cargo) and up to a whopping fifty tons of cargo distributed among those segments. Note that while there's no Zoid small enough to fit in the midsection segments, the cargo can include weapons, munitions, or even people in the course of a transport. Not bad for a small, 7 ton Zoid. Further note that the amount of cargo can greatly reduce the speed of the Connectes. When fully loaded with 50 tons of cargo, the Connectes only moves at 50 kph, barely fast enough to race the Ultrasaurus.
