AIM Screen name: Forger03

Character Description and History:
Corben stands 5’9’ and weighs about 190lbs. he is well muscled, or more correctly well proportioned, with a lot of leg strength, and is pretty fast. He has no visible scars, but in fact has one hidden by his hair on the back of his head. He’s never seen it, so he couldn’t tell you what it looked like.
Personality/History: To start with, Corben can not stand any reptile or dino type zoid, with one exception. He has no qualms with rev raptors. Because they are just, well, ordinary. They don’t use cheap tricks, they aren’t uberfied, they aren’t what he calls “underpowered” and they can’t sniper you, at least, they couldn’t last time he checked, which was a while ago, admittedly.
Consequently, he adores canines, thus why he has two. Always, the ever loyal Konig wolf, and the younger, and still very puppyish Rusted, who is rust colored. He has an unconscious predjudice against cats, which means he will always choose anything except a raptor over a cat, though he has never realized this.
Corben is a generally friendly guy, if somewhat hard to approach. So, to more properly state it, once he’s approached, he’s great, but people are generally nervous about actually approaching him. In the tiny, tiny circles where he is known, he’s known to be very serious and fierce in combat, of any kind, but isn’t much of a military guy. That is, he has no problems with the members of the military, but doesn’t like war. This is taken as a surprise by some, as Corben is supposedly descended from a line of Military pilots who all had very respectable reputations, and kill records, if not exactly the stuff of legend. In truth, Corben is not proud of this fact, thinking that nobody should be proud they can kill more or better than others, and believes killing is an inherently wrong thing, thus why he does not kill except where not killing would mean more dead than if he had killed.
He’s got 3 life, or world, philosophies. There are only a few, like, less than 20, people in the world, of which he isn’t one, who are not idiots, and the second is that everyone in the world is some kind of crazy, no exceptions.
Corben has one other philosophy, and that is this. “It’s good for people to start out on the bottom. It keeps them humble, and gives them drive. If you start on top, what’s there to achieve? As a manga character in Hikari no Go once said, and I paraphrase, ‘I’m the real contender here, because I’m not on top. I’m the guy climbing the ladder, I’ve got tons to gain, and nothing to lose. But the guy’s on top? They’re desperately trying to hold onto what they have, so they’ve got everything to lose, and nothing more to gain. That makes me more dangerous than them.’”
History: Corben grew up in a nice home, with loving parents, who at first, spoiled him rotten. Then they started getting harsher, he became a teenager, he rebelled. He got in fights. At first, he lost. Then he started winning. And if he still lost, he went back and won the next time. One day Corben got in a fight with an old man, who he later realized lived just down the street. He lost spectacularly. After losing several more times, he started learning how to fight with things besides his fists, and more importantly why one should fight, from the ossan himself.
“Hey ossan! You can’t go down this street without paying the toll. What you got in the bag?”
“Nothing of value, my young friend, why don’t you let me pass?”
“I asked what was in the bag, ossan!” Corben took a step toward the Ossan. The Ossan didn’t move. Corben sneered at him. “Alright, if you won’t show me, I’ll just take it.” He charged the ossan, who sidestepped and cuffed him. He charged again, and threw a punch. He was tripped and landed on his face faster than you can say, “many many many many sacks of potatoes are ready to go.” After getting up, and trying several more times, he finally admitted defeat, and then spent the next two weeks begging the Ossan to teach him to win so easily. Eventually the man relented, mentoring Corben and teaching him not only how to fight, but how to use weapons other than guns, primarily staves and knives. Also, Corben was put through much philosophical “torture” as he called it then, so that he would know how and more importantly why to use what he had learned at the appropriate times.
And then, guess what the world went and did? Nope, not that, no, not that either, yes, that’s it! They dropped a war on his house. Not his doorstep, his house, and his neighbor’s house, and every house on the street, and the next street, and all but two houses and half of a third that was one neighborhood over. Zoids rolled through from both Neo Backdraft and the ZBC, and obliterated his hometown. He escaped in the ossan’s Command wolf, an old zoid. Although the ossan had the various mods for it, he was forced to leave them to make his escape. And you’ll never guess what kinds of zoids were used in that battle. Wow, you got it on the first try! Reptile and Dinosaur type zoids. Distinctly lacking was the rev raptor. The clash was in fact a never to be infamous squad from the Neo back draft fighting a squad of redhorns backed up by a shield liger. Corben unconsciously gained a minor prejudice against ligers from this.
The Wolf’s name? Always, because it would always be the loyal friend of its master, and had been passed for years by request. The previous Master would ask Always to look after the new master until the new master no longer needed him, or the new master found someone who needed him more. It is speculated by Corben that eventually he will find someone who needs Always more than him, and as Always was passed to him in his moment of dire need, he shall pass it on again.
Rusty is the name of the family dog. A dog that has somehow found its way back to Corben, years later. Rusted is the name of a rather new, but supposedly defective(personality wise) hound soldier that Corben bought at action with, at the time, him being 18, all the money he had. He decided to buy Rusted, who then had no name, because the zoid: A reminded him of his dog, which had already returned to him, and B, he liked the flamboyant attention grabbing, “I don’t have to listen to you,” personality of the zoid. Thus, Corben had two zoids, he was not a registered pilot, and he had no money. so he went and did what he’d been doing before to earn money. he worked as a mercenary caravan guard. And tried to convince Rusted that he was going to win, and pilot the zoid.
His eventual solution was to fight the Hound soldier in Always, using superior tactics, smoke, and agility to force the Hound to recognize just how powerful a team they could make, banking on its desire to be the best of the best. Not long after mastering, or rather equaling, Rusted, he officially registered under the New treaty.
Corben owns two hand guns which he carries mostly for show, despite the fact he learned how to use guns from a number of experienced gunmen/pilots who worked the same caravan guards he did. The guns themselves are commander sized 1911 fully aftermarket customized. He has proved highly proficient in hitting where he aims, even with something as inaccurate over distances as Handguns of nearly any kind can sometimes be. In addition to this, he owns an assorted collection of knives, pocket knives, hunting knives, skinning knives, fold out knives, and a set of knives small throwing/ stabbing knives hidden in his belt buckle.
He carries sunglasses, wallet, a watch, a cell phone with camera, Kevlar body armor, camping kit, sleeping bag, fire starter kit, and a few other necessities. He has 3.3 meter long staff, about an inch thick, capped on the bottom, made of titanium. It is likely the most expensive non-zoid or zoid related item he owns. The cap on the end covers a very very sharp point that can go through a lot of stuff. He will often use this as a one or two handed pseudo sword, it fits well into his preference not to kill, as it won’t penetrate(though it might break bones) unless he removes the cap, which doesn’t just come off at random.
Corben is currently part of a tiny group of Caravan “guards” who are being called the Walkers. This is because their leader is a young man the same age as Corben, who is named Tony Walker. Tony is, in fact, the former resident of the half destroyed house two neighborhoods away mentioned in the section detailing the destruction of Corben’s home. It is also thanks to Tony that Corben knows his family is still alive, living in Europa now, to avoid the war. Tony is also an old classmate of Corben’s, although previously, the two were not in fact friends.
The Walkers are named for Tony, but not by Tony. He has objected several times to the use of his last name as the title of the group. It must here be noted the Walkers are not, nor seek to be, either a “Faction” of any kind, nor a registered battle team under the Treaty. Corben is the only member registered for battle at this time, and that is likely to continue for some time to come.
