Character Description and History:
Even before the moment of birth, Adriana Flores was predestined to be worthless. Her father was the local bad boy, slumming around the small town streets of a broken down town in Delphoi, a high school drop out. Her mother was the gullible beauty with the overprotective, judgemental parents. “You’re making a mistake,” her grandmother would scream at her mother all throughout the pregnancy. “A mistake like this is easily corrected.” But Adriana’s mother refused. At the age of eighteen Kam Flores had run away from home, eloping to the father of her two small pink bundles.

Adriana was born a twin, an identical twin. Mikayla had come as a surprise, but growing up Adriana couldn’t have been more happy for a best friend and sympathetic presence. Life wasn’t easy. From her early childhood Adriana could remember the nights she’d stay awake long past her bedtime, ear pressed to the door, listening to the screaming and yelling of her drunk father going off on some tirade for some obscure reason and lashing out his anger towards the world on a woman who barely had the emotional strength to defend herself let alone physically overcome her attacker. Mikayla would sob quietly under the covers of the bottom half of their bunk bed, and Adriana took it upon herself to be the source of comfort for her sister on those particularly long nights. At that point she couldn’t possibly understand the situation at hand, but that wasn’t important. All that mattered was staying strong and keeping her sister’s spirits up.

As long as they kept to their room, Adriana discovered the two of them made it through okay. Her father would trek off to work every morning early, and Kam would prepare them and send them off to school. Hand in hand they’d race home on foot from school at the end of the day, then slink off to their bedroom. Left in charge of caring for the house, Kam was busy most of the time, but they’d keep each other company. Mikayla had the intellect; she’d be Adriana’s tutor if she ever got stuck at school. Adriana, in return, would introduce Mikayla to the joys of the arts, the friends she made so easily, and would, in general, be the strong backbone keeping the two from crumbling under a dysfunctional household. Their mother was always there as soon as their father had passed out on the couch; helping with homework, playing games, and just bonding in general, and Adriana especially felt close to such a warm heart.

Things only seemed more dim when Adriana’s father was fired from his job. He picked up his old habit of smoking, and only seemed to get more angry and more drunk day by day as the two grew into their teen years. Adriana’s patience continued to grow thin, but it was Mikayla who finally drove Adriana to action.

“You shouldn’t smoke at the dinner table.”

Seven little words were enough to drive a home into hell. There was yelling, and screaming. A terrified mother cowered in the corner. Mikayla ducked under the table. Adriana stood boldly to defend the others, glaring down the only person she ever truly hated and continually distrust.

The rest of the night was a surreal blur. She could remember the smoky, chalky taste of a cigarette forced in her mouth, a combined effort of knocking the drunk beast down, scrambled packing by the three, and a bold escape into the night. Over the next few years the three lived with an old family friend, and things drastically improved. A bright smile and generally cheerful, optimistic attitude kept the family happy, and all three continued to support each other and suppress the bitterness of the past. Mikayla kept herself more reserved; Adriana did most of the talking for the two of them. Free from restrictions, Adriana thrived in the social setting of high school, despite borderline grades in everything but her art classes, and grew into adulthood.

At age 19 Adriana knew her calling was drawing her elsewhere. A troubling past seemed undaunting to her if she avoided thinking about it, and she knew she couldn’t let it stop her. She fancied herself an amateur artist, developing her widening portfolio with works and always looking for her big break. To help pay rent she took up a small career in modeling, and, gifted with her father’s good looks if nothing else, it led her to wave an optimistic temporary goodbye to her mother and sister as she ventured into the big city to develop both careers at the age of 21. When she first saw her first zoid battle she was hooked on yet another trade, mostly allured by the intensity of it all and overall ‘coolness’ factor. Securing herself with two “gently used” zoid partners, she made up her mind to, if nothing else, at least learn to pilot the two halfway decently… because, life is short; and to Adriana Flores, carpe diem definitely applies.

As appearances go, Adriana is blessed, which she uses to her advantage in her modeling. Standing a little under 5’11”, a fast metabolism and strictly watched diet keeps her thin and slender. Having taken up high school gymnastics which she now continues to practice as a hobby, she toned her body enough to remain firm but not overly muscular. Murky blue eyes contrast against her naturally tanned skin, and chocolate brown hair falls down a few inches past her shoulders. Despite a deceiving soft face, she’s not one to give up easily.
